Funeral Salvations

The other night I got to do a funeral service. Here the night before the actual burial, they hold a service at the home of the deceased, with the coffin still present. Relatives gather and they say all the nice things about the deceased and quote traditionally accepted verses about heaven.

But I am not a local and I am not traditional.

I didn’t know the deceased, so I explain that to everyone, and without being disrespectful, I explain that I can’t tell them anything about him, I don’t know what his life was like, I don’t know where he is right now, but what I do know is that death is certain for all of us. We can’t avoid death, but we can, and should, prepare for it.

Lessons can be learned from everything and one of the lessons from death is this, be careful how you live. Then I moved onto Nicodemus meeting Jesus, focusing on how religion makes you think you are OK, when you might not be, Jesus says you must be born again to enter the Kingdom of heaven.

Anyway, the concept might seem odd from a western mindset, but here it is ok.

There were 8 adult salvations.
