READ THIS…AMAZING DAY.
We had a brilliant day. All the preparation for the opening of our new building went well.
Then we had about 120 people turn up, all who mostly brought food for the lunch before the service. In 14 years of working with the poor I have never been anywhere where there has been “too much food”, but there is a first for everything as we had so much food left over. A great display of generosity and giving.
Then the service was brilliant. The worship was wild, just full of fun and joy. There came a point where you just sat on the floor with Jesus, closed your eyes, raised your hands and worshiped with no care or concern at all about what might happen next. Just beautiful.
We had salvations and then great spontaneous worship at the end. Great service.
But the day, oh what a day.
We started by not having any water in the whole squatter area.
Then we had church.
At the end of church we all lost power, good timing for us, but not good at all.
Then we all begin to realise that there is a huge tornado just off in the distance, I put a couple of videos on the blog. Just crazy.
Then at about 8pm we hear dogs going off everywhere and noisy chattering of people going on everywhere. FIRE, a big fire. No power, no water, a tornado and now a fire has gotten away. Huge flames. I run off into the night to see how bad it is while Chris throws the important stuff into suitcase. The breeze was taking the fire away from us, but 20 families lost their homes.
Needless to say, an amazing, memorable day. We had rain, wind and fire, all very biblical symbols,we are just glad that two of them missed us.
