We have successfully run this feeding program for well over a year now, partnering with another NGO, Action International, and in partnership with 2 groups providing funding from Australia.
We have, on average fed 300 children per week for nearly 18 mths, which makes it approximately 1,200 meals that we have prepared per month, with a grand total of 21,600 meals prepared and given away to impoverished children over that time.
The best news is that nearly 90% of the children were consistently receiving the food three times per week, which means there is clear impact upon the health and nutritional status for those children, with many of the children having second helpings of food on the days of the feeding.
We have had limited success reaching out to parents, although we were able to make significant connections with a limited few. But the point of the program was to “feed children”, so from that view point, it has been a great success.
The program will be finishing at the end of this month.
We would like to say a huge thank you to Martin Upton and Coen Kids for their generous support over the course of this program.
Together, we all make a difference.
