Tend your SEED
Christain life is a growth. Every grace and blessing of the gospel is in SEED – FORM and implanted in the newborn child of God (Eph 1:3, 2Pet 1:2-3, 1Pet 1:23; 1Jn 3:9, Jas 1:18). If these seeds are watered from heaven and CARED FOR BY THE INDIVIDUAL, by obedience & conformity to the Word of God, THEY WILL GROW to full maturity. Obedience is like water to the seed.
Eg – by his stripes we are healed, BUT so many in the church are sick, but as we grow in our understanding of healing, we can be healed and begin to work more miracles…this is the same with every biblical truth.
If the seeds are neglected or abused, they will die, and the Christian will die with them.
v23 CAN BE US…ANYONE…
13:18-19 the SEED is the Word of God. We RECEIVE it by HEARING – 13:9.
Mark 4:24 – we have this caution – be careful how you hear, with the same measure you use, it will come back to you.
Luke 8:16-18 – we must be careful to not REJECT the truth.
Rejected truth cannot help us. When we reject it, we are saying that it is not truth for us.
We are really saying “I DON’T BELIEVE IT”.
BBB, large vitamin tablet, many struggle to swallow it, many don’t like to take it, so it is of no benefit to them, they reject it.
We hear through ears that are in all sorts of conditions – critical ears, judgemental ears, defensive ears, argumentative ears, proud ears, hurt/wounded ears, immature ears, sometimes totally closed ears.
Mark 4:20 HEAR, ACCEPT, FRUIT BEARING BEGINS. It’s a natural, normal process.
– sometime what we hear hurts, but God allows it for our good.
Matt 13, the only seed that did not grow was the one that fell on unprepared ground, all the others grew, some did not grow well, some died after a short while, some produced fruit.
The PURPOSE of a seed is to give us MORE…but even in the good ground there were various quantities of success, some 100, 60, 30.
The best farmers get the best crops.
This is determined by how well you hear – Mark 4:20, Matt 11:29
Matt 13:31-32, the SEED is SMALL, but inside it is something GREAT. Look after your seed.
No single work of grace or even a dozen works of grace, encounters with God or anointings of the Spirit will make a person fully mature, to the point that they don’t need to mature in their Christian experience, especially if there is deliberate, wilful disobedience.
One must walk in the light as he receives knowledge and then he will grow normally to maturity in Christ (1Jn. 1:7; 1Pet. 2:1- 8). Obedience is like water on the seed.
