Michael Holton, from Port Lincoln AOG
We have had he pleasure of having Michael stay and work with us in Baseco for the last few months. He has been before for a stay of a few months and has visited on many occassions with teams from his church.
Michael is involved in most areas of ministry from doing bible studies, pastoral care, church meetings and house building (just to mention a few of his activities).
In the last few weeks he has been ivolved in building two houses…
One was for a family that Michael knew from a previous visit here. We became involved with this family as the children were sick and malnourished. There is no father present and so the task of raising the children and providing their daily needs falls to the mother. In our Aussie world, that might not seem like such a big deal, but here, with no social welfare and no financial support at all, that is a very difficult task. Julie (the mother) is very uneducated and work is always scarce and always poorly paid. We had a couple of small typoons in the last few months and one of them basically destroyed Julie’s house, so Michael rebuilt it.
There is another lady, Marimar, a little bit special in the intellect area, can’t read or write and just a really poor simple woman, She only has one child, Jerome, but their house has been really bad for quite a while, and Michael simply believe God placed it upon his heart to build her a new house. Something that was an absolute impossibility for her to ever do herself. A great blessing, I will upload some photos at another date, as there seems to be some sort of tech hitch at the moment.
