Well it has been a big week. We have had a team of Aussies here from Hope City International, who have had a great time. One of their main reasons for coming was to help set up a Welding Training Center.
The Vision for this Project is all about Equiping and Enabling, giving basic metal working skills to those who don’t have them in order for them to find better, or more permanent employment. The main goals for this Training Center are as follows -
- Permanent Employment of Initially 2 locals.
- To run ongoing short term welding courses for 4 people per month.
- On completion of course to provide trainees with a Certificate of Competency, a Work Referal and a Reference from an International N.G.O.
- We will produce our own Pedi Cabs and a variety of other locally used products.
- We will do maintainence and repair work on all forms of locally used products.
So this week we have been purchasing tools and equipment, and myself and Henry have been learning to weld and make Pedi Cabs, as well as actually setting up the actual Training Center. Paul, from Hope City has been very busy teaching, training and making the first Pedi Cab.
Once Henry and me are a bit more proficient at welding, the aim is to be training people by the start of August.
Big project for us and great blessing for the Community.
