Something “AMAZING” – Crazy People like US
In a world where people are often looking for “excuses” for so much of what they don’t do, it is not all that often that you find “families” that are looking for “reasons” to do things for Jesus.
We have a family of 8, mum, dad and 6 children (all under 18) who are coming to live and work with us in Baseco for 3 months…notice they are coming to LIVE IN BASECO with us. How amazing is that…they could have all the excuses in the world, too many kids, kids are too young, too many commitments, too busy, school, work, business, all just too hard etc…but they don’t…they have a reason.
Jesus is ultimately their reason, plus they want their children to experience another worlds normality. Incredible. James is a pastor in Australia and runs a decent size computer business, Cathy is a mum, a teacher (they home school the children) and a child care/mid wife professional.
My wife and I have moved out of our little home and moved right into the middle of the slum, into our Prayer House, so that James, Cathy and their children can have our house. Our house is great by Baseco standards, it has power, running water, small aircon’ in one room, is relatively rat and bug free and is safe and lockable…but by western standards it is nothing and a family of eight is going to move in there for 3 months – no space, sleep on mattress’s on the floor, pack everything up every day, no shops close by, everything very manual, leaks in the roof, floods in a heavy rain or high tide, huge rats playing in the roof every night, constant noise, no internet – these people must be crazier than us – no doubt God will use them greatly.
Pray for them as the Lord leads you too – there will be some many challenges and adjustments for them all.
If you would like to follow their adventure, please click on the link for “Cathy” on my blog roll.

Will Rogers said, “We can’t all be heroes because some of us have to sit on curbs and clap for the heroes when they pass by.”
So, I’m sitting on a curb in Southern California, clapping for my heroes in BASECO.
| Posted 4 months, 1 week agoI am in awe of people like this. They are real heroes. I believe that God will use their gift of service to Him greatly. They will be changed forever by the experience, but need to have prayer support. Come on, all who read about them – pray for them. Baseco is not a good place for this family to be in. They are now on my prayer list along with Mark and Christine. I look forward to hearing about some of their experiences.

| Posted 4 months, 1 week agoOh guys Manila/Baseco is not so bad, in fact I think India reeks more!! Heros??? Thanks but I would NOT look good in a tight lycra outfit and cape especially after 6 kids!! Not heros just obedient, I just keep thinking about Livingstone and his wife and kids traveling over the middle of Africa on a bullock tray and a convoy of unsaved Africans……..huh we think we have it tough in Baseco, no way!! We HAVE electricity, fans, a toilet, running water, some transport, food, a church, loving community and neighbours and Mark and Chris who have walked the walk with us (could not have done it without them)………we are blessed in Baeco……..but Rob and Larry I covet your prayers they mean a lot to this family…….God is good Cathy
| Posted 4 months, 1 week agoPS I did bribe Mark many Pesos to write such encouraging stuff about us!!
Wow! Cathy, (and mark and Christine)
You are all so amazing, but Cathy, what an experience for your little children. How amazing to show them the other side to life than just our own culture we live in.
They will be changed forever… and go and tell about the good things that Jesus has done for them and others over and over again…
Bless you Cathy and family – can’t wait to hear some amazing stories.

| Posted 3 months, 1 week agoWell, I have to say that God is due all the glory, right Cathy?
| Posted 2 months, 2 weeks agoCathy and James are doing an extraordinary thing in the name of our Jesus, but no more extraordinary than Him who did it first! Those who are willing to follow the call of God, no excuses, to do as He wills, are people who are no longer living for themselves but for the One who gave them life! He is no fool to loose what he cannot keep to gain what he cannot loose!
Cathy, I love you lots, am praying for you guys as you venture, I miss you, and I know that you would not want to be glorified, but rather have our Lord glorified, as it is through this that His work can be done in places such as Baseco, and even Launceston! HE WILL HAVE HIS GLORY!
Bless you greatly!
